The Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day Panel
On March 25, 2021, I had the honor of being a guest speaker on The Mighty's Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day live video panel. I was joined by comedian Zach Anner and three incredible Mighty members: Michael, Brandee, and Jennifer. Together, we talked about the stereotypes, misconceptions, and ableism that people with cerebral palsy face on a daily basis as well as other topics related to living with CP.
The Mighty is a website dedicated to providing support and community for people with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and rare diseases. I was grateful for the opportunity to share my story and advocate for people with disabilities on such a large platform.
We also talked about the importance of representation and inclusion for people with disabilities in the media. We all agreed that there needs to be more visibility for people with disabilities in film, television, and other media so that people can see that we are just as capable as anyone else.
