The Denver Nuggets took a commanding 2-0 lead in their Western Conference First Round series against the Los Angeles Lakers with a 117-96 victory on Thursday night at Ball Arena. Nikola Jokic led the way for the Nuggets with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Jamal Murray added 24 points and Aaron Gordon chipped in with 18 points.
The Lakers were led by Anthony Davis, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds. LeBron James added 19 points and 7 assists, but he also turned the ball over 6 times. The Lakers shot just 39.8% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range, while the Nuggets shot 50.0% from the field and 38.9% from three-point range.
The Nuggets led by just 5 points at halftime, but they pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Lakers 32-18. The Lakers never got closer than 10 points in the fourth quarter.
The Nuggets will now have a chance to close out the series in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The Lakers will need to win both games at home to force a Game 5 in Denver.
