Dutch artist Joost Klein disqualified from Eurovision Song Contest after backstage incident
The Dutch artist Joost Klein has been disqualified from the Eurovision Song Contest after a backstage incident.
The performer has been sent home after an alleged physical altercation with a member of the production crew.
Joost Klein was due to represent the Netherlands in Saturday's Eurovision final, but he will now be replaced by a backup performer. The decision to disqualify Klein was made by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the Eurovision Song Contest.
The EBU said in a statement that it "regrets that Joost Klein will no longer be able to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest." The statement added that the EBU "takes any allegations of misconduct very seriously and will continue to investigate the matter."
Klein has denied the allegations, and he has said that he will appeal the EBU's decision. The performer has also said that he is "deeply disappointed" by the EBU's decision.
